Responsible Gambling and Affordability

The checks and tools regulators require to prevent gambling harm: affordability and financial risk checks, deposit limits, self-exclusion schemes and the markers of harm operators must monitor.

5 guidesUpdated when rules change

Responsible gambling (also called safer gambling) is the set of duties operators have to prevent and reduce gambling harm: monitoring markers of harm, offering and enforcing limits, honouring self-exclusion and, increasingly, checking affordability. Rules differ by market, from the UK’s staged financial risk assessments to Germany’s €1,000 monthly deposit cap and Brazil’s centralized self-exclusion platform.
